as it is covering some motives and topics through different periods of time in literature but its a bit american centred even though there is to the western canon then what is mentioned here but it covers some of the main topics and motives quite well and gives a list of the books which one should read so as an introduction its ok and sufficiant but nothing it does not cover enough in my eyes the best part is the appendix and that it shows youngsters quite well to the importance of reading the classic bookjust be aware there is than this boks covers but it gives a nice first impression and as this is good
