The romance here was really steamy and sexy Oh yeah, there is a vampire But For Vampire Diego Rivera, Ramona Escobar Ssensuality Proved Even Potent He Had To Resist For There Could Be No Such Thing As Love For Him Fivecenturies Ago Diego Had Vowed Never To Turn Anotherwith The Bite Of The Undead And Though Diego Knewthe Dark Underworld Of New York Was No Place For Ahuman, His Unslaked Desire Commanded That Ramonabe His For One NightBut When The Artist S Life Was Threatened By A Reclusivemillionaire Who Had Used Ramona S Skills To Build Aforgery Ring, Diego Needed To Unleash His Inner Demonto Save Her Then He Was Faced With A Choice Lose Thewoman He Lovedor Turn Her With A Vampire S Kiss This is about a vampire that falls in love with an artist who is dying and also supporting her ailing mother that we never meet in the story It was just a quick read and did not really have any depth to it. Well I have never read anything quite like that before And I loved it D This is book 6 of the Calling series by Caridad Pineiro The writing reminds me of Lynsay Sands Argeneau Series tame, accessible, romantic, sweet It was a fun and fast read, and it didn t seem to matter that I read the book out of order It s also refreshing to see so many Spanish and Hispanic characters in positive roles.Diego Rivera is a 500 year old vampire who holds onto his humanity through the arts he s a gallery owner and he takes pride in nurturing talent He lost his love of the past half millenia only a year and a half ago, and is just now coming out of grief Diego has been the patron of an artist named Ramona since she was in art school The book opens with Diego realizing he has a strong attraction to Ramona, but not wanting to pursue that attraction because he can t bear to ruin her by making her a vampire What he doesn t know is that she s dying from disease and only has a short time to live Then she gets accidently swept into a art forgery scheme and wants to clear her name she goes to Diego for help The most interesting aspect of this book for me was how respectful the vampires were of human laws they seemed to feel nearly as constrained by human laws as everyday people, mostly because of the need to keep themselves hidden Many vampire books bring on the supernatural powers whenever there s a problem In this series, the vamps use the system to their advantage. Diego has lived for five centuries but has never met anyone quite like Ramona He is very wealthy and has taken to being a patron of the arts, not only does he have a gallery he is also Ramona s patron There had to be some way for him to give something back.Diego has sworn never to turn another into a vampire after seeing what it cost others When he learns the woman he thinks he might be falling in love with, or is trying to stop himself from doing so, is dying he finds himself in a real quandary what will he do Ramona is an artist who s family circumstances forced her to undertake a job for a millionaire to obtain the money to care for her mother which she would have preferred not to take She finds herself threatened by the reclusive millionaire who manages to find her weakest spot, her mother She is attracted to Diego but she won t act on it because of her illness meaning she does not have long to live, she has no idea of course tat he is a vampire. The interaction between Ramona and Diego is executed very well through out the story, I like that it is not all just nice and going well all the time Blood Calls is a well paced story with interesting lead characters who end up exactly where the reader wants them to by the time they have got to know them I have the feeling that any other end to the book than that provided would not have satisfied the reader You ll have to read the book to find out what that is
